Over the past decade, there has been no readily accessible, current survey of machine tools in the metal forming and fabricating industry. In order to fill this need, the Fabricators & Manufacturers Assoc., Intl. (FMA), and FMA Communications have undertaken an industry-wide inventory of machine tools in the United States. The survey records the number and age of each type of machine. The results are broken down by type of machine, company size, and geographic region.
Machines covered in the survey include coil processing equipment, press brakes, stamping presses, punch presses, roll forming equipment, thermal cutting machines (lasers, oxyfuel, plasma, and waterjet), shears, saws, welding power supplies, and tube and pipe bending, forming, and production equipment.
